Privacy Policy

The short version

• We collect what we need to run your account and show your progress. We don’t sell your data or show ads.
• Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, Clerk. We never see them.
• Messages you type into the AI study assistant are sent to third-party AI services. Don’t enter personal or patient information there.
• Community notes are public, with your name on them.
• You can download your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.

1. What we collect

You give us

• Account details: name, email address, username and password (the password is stored by Clerk, not by us).
• Academic profile: medical college, course, year of joining and current MBBS phase.
• Things you post: community notes, likes, and reports or suggestions (missing competencies, errors, book pages, videos).

Created as you use SynRx

• Progress: which competencies you mark complete, with the subject and date.
• Recent activity: the last few competencies you opened, daily counts of visits and completions for the past week, and your study streak.
• Sign-in data from Clerk, such as your account ID and, if you use Google, your Google profile name, email and photo.
• Standard technical data needed to run the site, such as session cookies and server logs.

Stored in your browser

To make pages load faster we keep copies of curriculum data (subjects and competencies) in your browser's local storage and memory. This contains no personal data and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

2. How we use it

• To run your account and keep it secure.
• To show your dashboard, progress and recent activity.
• To set up the site for your phase and college.
• To display community notes and handle reports.
• To review and fix the reports and suggestions you send.
• To keep the service working, find bugs and prevent abuse.

We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

3. The AI features

Summaries, learning objectives, study plans and practice questions are generated from the curriculum, not from your personal data, using Google's Gemini models.

When you use the chat in study mode, your messages and the text of the competency you are studying are sent from your browser to third-party AI services that run open models (for example through Groq or NVIDIA) to produce a reply. We don't store your chat history. These providers handle the text under their own terms, so never type personal, identifying or patient information into the chat.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with services we need to run SynRx:

• Clerk, for sign-up, sign-in and account security.
• Our database and hosting providers, which store and serve the site and your data.
• Google (Gemini) for generating curriculum content, and the AI chat providers described above.
• Other SynRx users, who can see community notes you post along with your name and phase or role.

We may also disclose data if Indian law requires it, or to protect users and the service from fraud or abuse.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account from Settings, we remove your profile and progress from our database and delete your account at Clerk. We keep a PDF record of your account data for up to 30 days for compliance, and then delete it.

Community notes you posted stay visible after you delete your account. Delete them before closing your account, or email us and we will remove them.

6. Your rights

You can:

• Download a copy of your data (Settings → Delete account → Download my data).
• Change your phase from Settings, and ask us to correct anything else.
• Delete your account and data at any time from Settings.
• Withdraw consent by deleting your account.
• Raise a question or complaint with us, and if we don’t resolve it, with the Data Protection Board of India.

For anything else, email support@synrx.in. We aim to reply within 30 days.

7. Security

Sign-in is handled by Clerk, the site is served over HTTPS, and access to our database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your data we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

8. Age

SynRx is meant for medical students. If you are under 18, use SynRx only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
